Deedra Determan opened consulting business D2 Branding in October 2013 with abundant experience under her belt.

Determan started at an advertising agency right out of college working in media buying. Her interest in the area drove her to flip sides and work for a Tulsa television station. At the time the station didn’t do newscasts, serving only as an entertainment station. During her tenure the station added a news portion and Determan was able to be an influential piece in rolling that out before moving to her next business venture.

“I left and started 918moms.com. It was a local moms’ website. A business partner, Melanie Henry, and I both had little kids at home at the time. We were working our tails off and really wanted to see our families more,” said Determan about her next career change. “We started the website, which was basically a niche website for moms, a directory of all the schools, day cares, birthday party places, anything that moms would want to find in town.”

She later sold the company, but continued to work for the site for a few years.

“My background is really that I worked on the agency side, I worked on the media side and I started my own business. When I was done with all of that I thought, ‘The best thing for me to do is consult and help other businesses grow,’” Determan said. “I’ve really been on all sides of it. I love helping people that have a business idea and take it and explode it through different avenues of marketing and PR and sales.”
